Staff Reporter,

Congress MLA Jeetu Patwari said he had not led the farmer’s agitation as being blamed by BJP. Rather he had supported the movement and it was young children of farmers, who were angry with Government policies and were agitating.

Addressing the press conference at Congress Headquarters, Jeetu Patwari said that young children of farmers were at the forefront of the agitation. In this agitation, many representatives of BJP and Congress were involved as they are also farmers. “I am also a farmer and hence I was part of the movement,” he said.

He said that farmer’s agitation was going on peacefully until Mandsaur firing incident and CM’s meeting with Kisan Sangh. It was after this that violent scenes were seen. However, he had appealed agitating farmers to protest in peaceful manner.

Taking strong objection over Agriculture Minister Gaurishankar Bisen’s statement that farmers’ loan will not be waived off, he said that the CM sat on indefinite fast on the last day of farmers’ agitation that is on June 10 so that he can take the credit of ending farmers’ movement. He alleged that CM had used the emotional chord to appeal farmers. He, however, said that if the demands of farmers are not fulfilled, then he will march across the State to create awareness.

Talking about deaths of five farmers in Mandsaur firing incident, he demanded resignation of CM by saying that Government is responsible for the gory incident. On this occasion, Youth Congress State President Kunal Chaudhary and Corporator Amit Sharma were also present.
