Business Bureau,

Under the aegis of CII Foundation with support from Mission Health, a CSR initiative of GSK Consumer Healthcare, conducted its food safety supervisors (FSS) - advanced (level 2) training on food manufacturing at Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies and Research for the benefit of small and medium industries.

This FoSTaC certificate training course has facilitated knowledge and skill based practical learning, in a highly interactive mode covering aspects of ‘Hygienic and sanitary practices for food general manufacturing, under schedule 4, Part II of Food Safety and Standard Act, Rule and Regulations.’
Studies have shown that an appreciable percentage of food borne illness cases can be attributed to poor sanitation and food hygiene, including poor personal hygiene and contamination of equipment and environment. In this regard, training of personnel in food business is a pre-requisite for ensuring food safety and hygiene.

The ultimate objective of the training programme was to fulfil a need of at least one trained and certified food safety supervisor in every food business operations so that he or she may in turn cascade food safety training to the food handlers in their own organisations.

CII Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan plans to complete 100 such training programs in partnership with industry across the country during 2017-18.
