NO ABUSE OF RIGHTS

ACLAMOUR alleging human rights violations is often raised by many people whenever Naxalites are killed by the security forces. However, when security personnel are massacred, the self-appointed conscious keepers of the nation usually remain silent. The CRPF, which lost 25 personnel in an attack by Naxals in Sukma in April, however, has made it clear that the said incident does not qualify as human rights violation of the slain jawans. The CRPF has been assigned the task of making Chhattisgarh Naxal violence-free.

While carrying out the job, CRPF troopers are often targeted by Naxals. And in retaliatory fire, Naxals also get killed. It’s a war, for both the parties which are fully armed and trained to shoot down the enemy. Hence, there is no question of violation of human rights in case of death of a jawan or the rebel. Of course, the heart of the people wails whenever jawans are killed because, Naxals are no less than terrorists. But the CRPF is a highly professional force. The CRFP takes even the supreme sacrifice of its jawans in its own stride.

MEND THE WAYS

Y ET another attempt by China to stop the United Nations from taking action against Pakistan-based JeM leader Masood Azhar is most unfortunate. The whole world knows that Masood was involved in the planning and execution of several terror attacks in India, including the one on Mumbai and in Uri. India has handed over enough proof of Masood’s involvement in terror attacks to Pakistan. Despite this, Masood is roaming freely in Pakistan, recruiting fresh militants to carry out his anti-India activities. India has thus approached the UN, urging it to ban the outfit of Masood.

While the rest of the world is in favour of taking action against Masood, China is deliberately stalling the move to poke India and pamper Pakistan. By stalling the UN move on Masood, China is doing a great disservice to the humanity. Terrorists are posing a threat to the world peace by indulging in wanton killing of innocent people. Under these circumstances, every nation is expected to behave responsibly. China must realise its folly and mend the ways.
