‘Foundrymen should purchase right material which suits their products’

THE Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) Nagpur Chapter recently organised a technical talk on the topic ‘Controlling sand parameters for quality castings’. Vinay Desai, consultant and master of sand technology from Kolhapur was the speaker and Sushil Sharma, Chairman of IIF Western Region was the chief guest .


Anuja Sharma, Chairperson of IIF Nagpur Chapter delivered the welcome address and appealed to all foundrymen to take part actively in future too. R G Paranjape introduced Vinay Desai to the audience.


Desai highlighted on how to achieve quality casting by controlling sand parameter. He also emphasised on proper training at shop floor to understand proper utilisation of tools and machines used in foundries. He said, “Expensive inputs are not always expensive and cheap is not always cheap. Foundrymen should purchase right material which suits their products”.


He explained the topic with examples and his experiences in different foundries.
Talk was concluded by question answer round. Many question were asked by the audience.


At the end Sushil Sharma summed up the topic.
He informed the audience that today the casting buyers are concerned about the cosmetic look of the castings.
