Develop Itwari Rly Station as terminal: Motwani

Zonal User Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) of South East Central Railway (SERC) recently conducted a meeting which was chaired by Sunil Singh Soin, General Manager of SERC and Dr Prakashchand Tripathi, Deputy General Manager and Secretary of ZRUCC. Pratap Motwani, representative of Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) and ZRUCC member discussed in detail on various issues which need attention for the development of Itwari Railway Station.


He said, Itwari Railway Station should be developed as Terminal. Dr Tripathi gave nod to the proposal. Dr Tripathi said, Nagpur and Itwari are the two important stations. The work of gauge conversion on Nagpur-Chhindwara line would start soon on a war footing. The other works like pit line is also being carried out. Once these works are completed, the other development work would be taken on priority basis.


Dr Tripathi informed that as per the announcement by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, the coach manufacturing depot with a capacity of 22 coaches would be developed. “For this project, 506 feet line will be laid, watering, charging and air coach facility will also be made available. Apart from these, 60 meter shunting line, 150 meter approach road and internal roads will also be developed,” he said.


Motwani also demanded stoppage of Inter-City Express to and fro. He brought into notice of the committee the problems of Kamptee Railway Station. “The important railway station of Nagpur sub-urban falling in the constituency of Maharashtra Energy Minister and Nagpur District Guardian Minister, Chandrashekar Bawankule and Krupal Tumane, Member of Parliament from Ramtek is away from the development,” he noted. He said, the station has no common facilities. The platform needs widening. Facilities like announcement of arrival and departure of trains, increase in reservation timings and coach display facility at platform should be started soon.


Dr Tripathi took cognisance of issues raised by Motwani and directed concerned officials to resolve them. Sunil Singh Soin addressed the issues raised by the representatives. Himanshu Jain, Secretary to General Manager informed the committee about digital services. Also present were C C M Shivraj, Deputy General Manager and other executives.
