Monsoon active, ‘orange alert’ for East MP

As monsoon system once again became active and rains pounding many parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh, Weather Department issued orange alert for entire eastern region. On Thursday, orange alert will be for entire State. In its warning, Weather Department said heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Satna, Sagar, Damoh and Panna districts.

Heavy rains are likely in isolated parts of Tikamgarh, Chhattarpur, Raisen, Vidisha, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, Umaria, Katni and Rewa districts. Weather department issued alert that there is likelihood that low lying areas of Katni, Satna, Rewa, Damoh and Sagar districts may get inundated owing to rains happening in regular manner.

In last twenty four hours, heavy rains pounded isolated places of State particularly Gurh (16 cm), Rewa (15 cm), Satna (14 cm), Katni (11 cm), Hanumana (9 cm), Maihar (7 cm), Sendwa and Nagodh (6 cm each). In its forecast, Weather Department said rains are likely in maximum places of Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol, Jabalpur divisions and districts including Raisen, Vidisha, Hoshangabad and Betul. Many places of Bhopal division and districts namely Harda, Bhind, Datia and Ashok Nagar are also likely to get the rains. The rainfall activities are likely to increase in western Madhya Pradesh. As far as Bhopal is concerned then there was no rainfall till evening on Wednesday.

The cloud cover got dense during evening hours but it has not rained. So far, rains are elusive in state capital from last many days. It was two days back that a spell of light showers tried to drench the city and provided partial relief to people from humidity. In absence of rains, Bhopalites are facing dry and humid weather conditions. Local forecast for Bhopal says that sky will be remain cloudy and some parts may receive rains.
