Jabalpur Station gets new escalator

MUCH-AWAITED inauguration of newly constructed escalator on platform number 6 (circulating area) and public dedication of coach guidance system at platform number 4, 5 and 6 was held in a special programme on Friday afternoon. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu was present as of chief guest on the occasion through video link from New Delhi. In New Delhi, the Railway Minister was accompanied by Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohai and Mohamed Jamshed member Traffic.

The occasion recorded presence of MP Jabalpur Rakesh Singh, along with MLA Jabalpur (East) Anchal Sonkar, MLA (Cantt) Ashok Rohani, MLA Panagar Shushil Tiwari as special guest on the occasion. Along with WCR General Manager Girish Pillai, Additional GM Pradeep Kumar, DRM Jabalpur Sudhir Kumar were also present.

According to information, inauguration of newly constructed escalator on platform number 6 (circulating area) and public dedication of coach guidance system at platform number 4, 5 and 6 was accomplished successfully. Inauguration and public dedication is another milestone of WCR in enhancing passenger amenities.

Speaking through video link, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said by virtue of inauguration of escalator and public dedication of coach guidance system passengers will avail enhanced facilities. He hailed efforts of MP Rakesh Singh who has been persistent in his demand to ensure new trains and to enhance passenger amenities. He assured Jabalpur people that more enhanced facilities will be provided in days to come. While MP Rakesh Singh expressed gratitude towards railway administration for enhancing passenger facilities. Continuos demand by MP Singh to provide facilities to people in Jabalpur has been proved highly conducive, consequently stoppage of many trains at Sihora, Deori and Bhitoni have been started.

Jabalpur station will soon get recognised as world class railway station for which efforts are underway. Soon after Jabalpur-Gondia broad gauge conversion gets accomplished, Jabalpur will emerge as big logistic hub. To accomplish the project there has been no dearth of funds after our Government came into power. At the outset, WCR GM Girish Pillai accorded warm welcome to dignitaries present on the occasion and in his welcome speech he thanked all eminents present.

About escalator inaugurated it is informed that a sum of Rs 1,12,61,000 has been spent on installation of escalator at platform number 6. With start of escalator, passengers will find it comfortable to reach platform number 1 to 5 from the circulating area. The coach guidance system at platform number 4, 5 and 6 for which a sum of Rs 57 lakh has been spent will enable passengers to reach their desired coach at the time of boarding the train.
