The prehistoric Gupteshwar Mahadev Temple will be developed as new religious tourism destination in the district. Natural majesty of adjoining natural places and hilly area near the temple will be developed for attracting visitors on the basis of Shailparn Udyan.
Temple Trust is preparing a workplan for management of natural beauty alongside and behind the temple for attracting utmost number of visitors with development of natural spots and basic amenities.


Gupteshwar Peethadhishwar, Dr Swami Mukunddas, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that the preparations are being carried out for development of nearby natural places on the basis of Shailparn Udyan near Devtal. He added that the trust is intended to utilise the budget amounting to Rs 2-3 crore to be obtained through sale of a donated property of the temple. The dispute for ownership of donated property has been resolved and a survey was conducted for further proceedings under the supervision of District Collector as Chairman of the trust.


Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Commissioner has been contacted for required permissions for development of 6-7 acres natural places adjoining the temple, while suggestions are being taken from different agencies for desired development of the area.


Dr Mukund Das informed that Gupteshwar Temple has been termed as ‘Upling’ of holy place Rameswaram in Atharva Ved and is pious place of worship of Lord Shiva at the banks of holy river Narmada. Gupteshwar temple is the witness of starting first war of independence in year 1856 at the time of Bundela Emperor. There is an urgent need to explore these unpopular facts of Gupteshwardham to inform about its significance and adding another centre of religious tourism in the district.
