2 vehicle-lifters held, 6 bikes seized

Shahjehanabad police have nabbed two vehicle-lifters and recovered half-a-dozen stolen motorbikes from their possession on Saturday; vehicle-lifters were nabbed during vehicle checking near TB Hospital.
According to the police, Danish Farooqi (20), a resident of Kotwali area and Akbar Khan (20) of Shahjehanabad area, were nabbed during police vehicle checking near TB Hospital and in the investigation, five more bikes were recovered.
Three of the two-wheelers were stolen from Shahjehanabad area, one each from Chhola Mandir area, Aishbagh area and Ashoka Garden area.


SHO Manish Mishra said that one of the nabbed accused Danish has been booked earlier for vehicle-lifting and while he was crossing police personnel during vehicle checking, he was stopped, but instead of stopping, he tried to escape and at the same time, one other vehicle-lifter tried to escape. Both of them were nabbed and when questioned, it was found that the vehicles were stolen.


He said that the two used to target vehicles from parking spaces and would target those vehicles, which were parked in their presence. One of the accused would keep an eye, while other would steal the vehicle and later, both would escape. Mishra said that more vehicles would be recovered from their possession. They have been sent under judicial custody.


During the investigation, four motorbikes have been recovered from Danish, while two motorbikes have been recovered from Akbar. Police have not nabbed any buyer or anyone who had helped the accused to dispose of the vehicles. The nabbed accused are habitual criminals and have been booked for different crimes in the past.
