Booty worth Rs 3.5 lakh stolen from house in Mahal

Cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 3.5 lakh was stolen from a house in Nandaji Nagar under jurisdiction of Kotwali Police Station. The family had gone to Shegaon when unidentified person(s) sneaked into the house, said Kotwali police.

According to police, Chandrakant Ramdas Tikode (42), a resident of Nandaji Nagar, Gangabai ghat, had gone to Shegaon on Friday. Grabbing the opportunity, the thief entered the house after breaking open latch of the front door. The intruder broke-open almirah with screw drivers and walked away with gold ornaments.

The theft was detected after residents of the area noticed broken latch of the door. They immediately informed police.
Staff of Kotwali Police rushed to the spot and performed panchanama. Police registered offence under Sections 379,
380 of the IPC against unidentified person(s).
