One nabbed for stealing at PDS shops

CRIME BRANCH sleuths nabbed one in connection with the thefts reportedly occurred at PDS Shops and government schools at Utai and Ranitarai in Durg and confiscated sizable stock of food grains worth Rs 1 lakh from possession of the accused. The police cell handed over the accused to the police station concerned for further legal action in the matter.

Police sources informed that in the connection the police booked two accused identified as Narayan Sahu alias Nathu (28) and Nandu alias Potara, both residents of Maroda, Bhilai. The police said that the accused Narayan Sahu was arrested while his accomplice Nandu alias Potara was still at large. The police also said that on being apprehended the accused Narayan Sahu alias Natthu confessed to his involvement in thefts occurred at PDS shops and government schools in the villages. During interrogation in the police custody the accused also disclosed the name of his accomplice with whom he was committing burglaries at the shops and government schools in the recent past.

The police also said that the accused were indulging in criminal acts of stealing foods grains stored at government schools for midday meals and PDS shops in the villages. In this connection the police also seized a two-wheeler being used by the accused for transporting the stolen bags consisting food grains.
The police have registered the offence against the accused under section 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code for indulging in the criminal acts of committing trespass and stealing from a closed place.
