‘GST, a revolutionary initiative towards uniformity in taxation’

FIRST day of Goods and Services Tax (GST) was celebrated in a graceful manner at GST Commissionerate Jabalpur on Saturday. Programme President, GST Commissioner, Jabalpur, P K Agrawal inaugurated GST Bhawan and expressed commitment of facilitating tax payers in 19 districts. Special guests on the occasion were CA Neeraj Agrawal, Ganesh Purohit, President of All India Practitioners’ Association Mukesh Chand Gupta, Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited, Arun Jain from Small Scale Industries, P K Pandey, Superintendent of Police, CBI, Prem Dubey, President, JCCI, DR Jeswani, Mahakoshal Udyog Sangh, Rajesh Chandok of MCCI and MM Nema, President, Tax Bar Association.


Addressing the programme, GST Commissioner P K Agrawal termed implementation of GST as a revolutionary initiative towards uniformity in taxation system in country. Necessary initiatives have been taken for educating tax payers about fundamentals of GST by organising more than 100 workshops. He also made an appeal to the businessmen and industrialists to ensure registration in GST and assured them to provide necessary support for their convenience. On the occasion, representatives of businessmen and industrialist organisations and chartered accountants shared their views on implementation of one nation-one tax and congratulated businessmen and residents for launching GST.


At the outset, the programme was inaugurated with worship of Lord Ganesha at hands of eminent guests and senior officers, while a melodious song was sung by Meeta Bhattacharya. Artists of Natya Lok group performed an inspirational play on implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax) to encourage the businessmen for registration in new taxation system. The programme was successfully organised with valuable contribution from Assistant Commissioners, Rajesh Kashiv, PS Juneja, S Mahesh Kumar and GST Superintendents. GST Joint Commissioner, Manish Jaiswal expressed gratitude towards guests, officers and representatives for their valuable presence and making the programme a grand success.
