Stage set for historic plantation drive today

PREPARATIONS were given final touches to bring the district on top in mega plantation drive by planting more than 42 lakh saplings. Plantation will be carried out at more than 20,000 places in the district to ensure best contribution in historic event of planting six crore saplings in the State. The campaign was started on the initiatives of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to protect river Narmada and the environment.

The event will register name of Madhya Pradesh in Guinness Book of World Records.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be specially arriving in the district to encourage residents for plantation on Sunday. He will plant saplings at the banks of river Narmada in Lamhetaghat. In order to ensure preparations for the mega event, MLA, Bargi, Pratibha Singh, Collector Mahesh Chandra Choudhary, Superintendent of Police Dr Mahendra Singh Sikarwar, accompanied by team of officers, conducted inspection of plantation site in Lamhetaghat. A large number of non-government, social and religious organisations, Government and private education institutions, defence establishments, civic bodies and other organisations will conduct plantation on Sunday.

Mega plantation will be held in Gaur, Ring Road, Temar-Bhita, Patbaba Hills, Lamhetaghat, GCF Estate, Phoenix Poultry, Dumna Nature Reserve, IIITDM, Ordnance Factory Khamaria, Government Engineering College, Ranjhi, Rani Durgawati University, Agriculture University, Mangeli, Gwarighat, Bhitoli etc.
