Addressing media, the Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal stated, if any allegation level against him over the land deal in Sirpur proved correct, he would surrender the land

Asserting that the allegations levelled against him are false and fictitious, Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said in case he is proved wrong, he will surrender the said land to the State Government. He challenged those who are raking up the issue to prove that he is involved in any kind of wrong doing, he will return the land. He said, neither he is making any clarification nor giving any excuse, in fact he is claiming that the land purchased by his family members has been done in a legal way after going through all legal process and that there is no fiddling in the purchase.

Addressing a crowded press conference at his official residence on Wednesday, on the backdrop of allegations levelled against his family members that the land purchased at Sirpur in Mahasamund district, where a tourist resort ‘Shyam Vatika’ has been built, is a forest land, allegedly donated to Forest Department by one Vishnu Sahu. Refuting the charges, the Agriculture Minister said ,the land has been purchased after going though all necessary legal procedures.

He said, if required the government can undergo investigation through any State, national or international agency into the whole issue. He said his family members purchased the said 3.45 acre land way back in 2009 at Rs 5 lakh from Vishnu Sahu, son of Shyamlal Sahu after complete verification of 16-point Kist Bandi Khatauni which was duly verified by the Revenue Department followed by issuance of loan-book after registry. Agrawal said, the land deal which was done in 2009,what is the point of raking this up now in 2017, is beyond comprehension. He said he can proudly claim that in his 37 years of political career, he had never misused his official position for his personal or family benefit. He said this is nothing but dirty politics.

He said the land had been declared, whenever he had contested elections after 2009. He said he doesn’t believe in hitting below the belt in politics, something which he had never done. He further added that he is into politics but his wife and his son are not in active politics. People should refrain from dragging them into political dirt.

Answering a query the Agriculture Minister said, had it been so that he had misused his official position and had grabbed the land illegally, for his family members, under such situation, one can demand action or level allegations against them. Answering another query, the Minister said Vishnu Sahu has been provoked unnecessarily by those who are into this conspiracy and was cunningly drawn into this controversy. He said his family has papers to support his claim. He even handed over a set of registry documents to the media in support of his claim.

When queried who is involved into conspiracy against him, the Minister said everyone knows who is behind this dirty conspiracy. When the mediapersons queried that it is a known secret that his relations with Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh is not so cordial, the Agriculture Minister stated with poise that he and his family enjoys a very good relationship with the Chief Minister and his family members. Also that he is our leader, our Chief Minister, and there are no differences with him. Answering another query whether this is the outcome of what cropped during the 2-day BJP State Working Committee meeting, the Minister asked not to lead him to any kind of conclusions.

When the mediapersons asked whether the Chief Minister had sought a detailed report on the issue, the Minister replied that it is the duty of the Chief Minister to seek detailed report about such matters. Similarly, when asked about the BJP leadership seeking report on the issue, he said as of now he has not received any communications either from the State Government or from the BJP central leadership.

In case he is asked for any details, he is ready to submit. Minister further added that he is seeking legal advice from his solicitors, so that legal action can be taken against person or persons involved in this dirty conspiracy to malign his image. He however, satirically stated he is expecting 5-6 such kind of charges ahead of forthcoming Assembly elections.
