Raipur students dominate Regional Chess tourney

Principal of Adarsh Vidyalaya, Jasbir Sarkar inaugurated the tourney

As many as 125 students, including girls, from schools of Raipur, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazaar etc. are participating in the regional chess tournament commenced at Adarsh Vidyalaya, Devendra Nagar, on Thursday. School Principal Jasbir Sarkar inaugurated the tournament and she encouraged the participants for playing confidently and showing sportsmanship.


Raj Patel, R Shrisha, Arnav Tiwari (Raipur), Lalit and Anurag Chopra (Dhamtari) came as first, second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in the boys 14 age groups. Similarly, Prachi Yadav, Rhythm Singhal, Avni Rathi (Raipur), Pragya Sahu (Mahasamund) and Maitri Jha (Raipur) stood first, second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in girls 14 age group.


In the boys 17 age group, Nitish Agrawal, Aneesh (Raipur), Ankur Verma (Baloda Bazaar), Harshit Singh Datta (Raipur) and Aniket Verma (Dhamtari) emerged as first, second, third, fourth and fifth respectively. Similarly, Khusboo Nahta (Raipur), Durgeshwari Jagat (Mahasamund), Janhvi Sahu (Dhamtari), Shivani Sonwani (Mahasamund) and Bhumika Chawla (Dhamtari) came first, second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in the girls 17 age group.


Yash Akash, Jivendra Sonkar (Raipur), Navdeep Singh (Dhamtari), Ankit (Raipur) and Neel Kamal Sahu (Gariaband) stood first, second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in the boys 19 age group. Similarly, Vaidehi Mishra (Raipur), Dhaneshwari Patel (Baloda Bazaar), Nikita Shukla (Raipur), Neha Choudhary (Mahasamund) and Vishi Parakh (Raipur) won the first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively in the girls 19 age group.
