Cops on toes in Chandrapur after alleged Naxal threat

Police in the district are on their toes following recovery of an alleged Naxal letter threatening to blow up railway stations in the district. The Police Department on Saturday carried out a mock drill at Chanda Fort to assess preparedness for an emergency situation. Meanwhile, sources in the Department stated that the letter could be fake.


The Government Railway Protection Force (GRPF) at Nagbhid Police Station found an alleged Naxal letter in which outlaws the have threatened to carry out explosions at Chanda Fort and Mul railway stations on Chanda-Fort-Gondia Railway line. The letter was recovered three days back during the Naxal Week. Following the recovery, all wings of Police Department, District Special Branch (Intelligence branch under DSP), Naxal Cell, GRPF, RPF, local police and others are on their toes.


The department has already issued high alert in the district and tight security is being maintained at Chanda Fort, Mul and Nagbhid railway stations. Other railway stations in the district have also been put on alert and security has also been beefed up.
Meanwhile, a mock security drill was held at Chanda Fort Railway Station and cops from different wings took part in it.
