Prime accused in land scam arrested from Kerala

THE prime accused arrested in Thrissur, Kerala in connection with Priyadarshani Grih Nirman Sahkari Society land scam of Kurud, Bhilai.
The offence was registered on complaint lodged by G S Tamrkar, Building Permission Officer, Bhilai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Amresh Mishra, SP, Durg announced the cash prize of Rs 10,000 for the police team investigating into the land scam for putting in committed efforts and successfully zeroing in on the prime accused in the case. The police are further investigating the land scam.

Police sources informed that the accused was identified as T R Shashi Kumar (67), a resident of Iranjulguda, Thrissur, Kerala. The police said that after purchasing of land the society was granted layout permission for 9.88 acres of land in April 1985. As per the approved layout the plot area was 5.46 acres with 105 plots and apart from this the land for road area 2.05 acres, open land 0.84 acres and 1.53 acres land was for weaker section.

The police said that in the course of investigation into the land scam the police registered the offence against the housing society office bearers under sections 420 of Indian Penal Code and sections 292 (G) subsection 2 of Chhattisgarh Municipal Corporation Act 1956.


When contacted, D R Porte, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) told the newspaper that the Priyadarshani Grih Nirman Sahkari Society, Kurud, Bhilai office bearers and their accomplices indulged in land scam worth crores of rupees. He informed that the police investigation into the land scam revealed that the accused indulged in criminal acts of concocting the plot layout and cheating while purchase and selling the plots and land area meant for weaker section, road and open land.

The police team camped in Kerala for fifteen days and succeeded in tracking down the prime accused T R Shashi Kumar in Thrissur district of Kerala. He also added that as per the investigation so far into the land scam, the accused T R Shashi Kumar was the president of Priyadarshani Grih Nirman Sahkari Society who along with the office bearers and the accomplices indulged in the malpractices of selling 4.42 acres of land meant for weaker sections, road and other purposes as per the approved plot layout while deceiving the weaker section people and government with crores of rupees.
