Nagpur-based Rite Water Solutions gets national honour for developing innovative technology in water

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of supplying safe drinking water to communities affected by ground water contaminated by toxic heavy metal, by 2020, is likely to be realised soon with the innovative idea of supplying pure drinking water using nano-technology getting recognition at national level. The honour has been granted to a Nagpur-based Rite Water Solutions.

Safe drinking water supplied through Water ATM, has started bring about the change. The innovator is Nagpurian and has successfully implemented his idea in several states including Rajasthan, Karnataka, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal.

Maharashtra came next and several villages in Nagpur
district are reaping benefits of the Water ATM, installed by Rite Water Solutions. The projects are being implemented using the CSR (Community Social Responsibility) Funds of several companies.

Associated Chamber of Commerce in India (ASSOCHAM), has selected Rite Water Solutions for the Water Management Excellence Award - 2017 for ‘Best Innovative Technology in Water’. The award was received by Abhijeet Gan, CEO of Rite Water Solutions, at a function held at Delhi.

ASSOCHAM, a not for profit organization, facilitating reach of India to all businesses around the globe, for wanting to do business with India, initiated its endeavor of value creation for Indian Industry in 1920. It is having in its fold more than 400 Industry Chambers, Trade Associations and serving more than 4,50,000 corporate members.
Rite Water Solutions is specialised in potable water and water quality improvement solutions with focus on providing comprehensive, cost effective and sustainable solutions for safe drinking water.

The solutions gains importance with growing chemical and biological contamination of drinking water sources. The fluoride and arsenic removal plant based on HIX Nano material is a breakthrough solution for removal of fluoride and arsenic from ground water.
The innovation is an outcome of collaborative project between Dr Anup Sengupta of Lehigh University, USA and Rite Water Solutions.

Gan stated that the project was undertaken as a part of prestigious Indo-US Science and technology Forum Award set up by the Department of Science and Technology, Indian and US Government, for commercialising technologies that have potential to solve problems of masses.

The trials were completed in 2016-17 and approval of the State and Central Government authorities was obtained.
HIX Nano is the first hybrid nano-technology based adsorbent product in India and the world’s first commercial hybrid adsorbent using zirconium nano-particles. Besides having superior performance for water quality, HIX has superior trace contaminant removal. The performance is increased ten times at optimised condition. The technology is highly scaleable and can be used for small community plants to large scale units.

Recently India’s largest nano-technology based arsenic removal plant has been set up in Barasat district of West Bengal, by Rite Water Solutions.

The technology is useful in areas where the ground water is contaminated with arsenic, fluoride and other heavy toxic metals. In India 13,819 arsenic affected habitations and 13,725 fluoride affected habitations have been identified. With the Narendra Modi government’s ambitious plan to provide safe drinking water in over 28,000 arsenic and fluoride affected areas by 2020, the technology gains importance.

The technology can play an important role in addressing
the problem of safe drinking water and also the resultant health issues.
Presently Rite Water Solutions is reaching out to about 1,000 villages in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar etc. The mission is to achieve better health for the nation, by supplying safe drinking water.
