2 illegal arm traders held with 7 pistols

IN a major breakthrough, Special Task Force (STF), Jabalpur, in association with Damoh Police, nabbed two accused involved in illegal trade of fire arms and seized seven country-made pistols from them. STF has obtained valuable information from arrested men and a rigorous search is underway to arrest another accused involved in illegal trade of fire arms.


The arrested have been identified as Noor Mohammed (32), a resident of Pathani Mohalla and Assu alias Ashraf (26), resident of Garhi Mohalla in district Damoh while another accused named Hasan is still at large.
STF Jabalpur, In-charge, Hariom Dixit informed that under the direction of Superintendent of Police, Special Task Force, Arun Mishra, STF started a campaign against illegal manufacturing and trade of fire arms to put-up check on use of illegal fire arms in crime activities.


Compliance with the directions, STF Jabalpur initiated a special campaign in association with district police. During
the campaign, STF received information about two suspected men involved in illegal trade of fire arms.


Acting on a tip-off, a combine team of STF and Kotwali Police, Damoh under the supervision of CSP, Kotwali, R Rajan nabbed the two suspected men and recovered seven country-made revolvers from them. Hariom Dixit added that they have found important clues from arrested men about the operation of illegal fire arms trading network.

Police are working on leads and expected to arrest more accused in coming days. The arrested were handed over to Damoh police while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other persons working in the network of illegal manufacturing and trade of fire arms. Kotwali police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 25, 27 of Arms Act while further investigations are underway.
