Over 3 lakh cases heard in National Lok Adalat

NATIONAL Lok Adalat was organised as per direction of Justice Deepak Mishra, Judge of the Supreme Court and Executive Chairman, National Legal Service Authority (NLSA), New Delhi, and under supervision of Justice S K Seth, Administrative Judge and Executive Chairman MP State Legal Service Authority across the State on Saturday. Special benches were constituted in all courts right from the High Court to District and Taluka courts in Madhya Pradesh, said Bharat Bhushan Shrivastava, Member Secretary, MP State Legal Service Authority, while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

He said a large number of people got redressed pending cases including criminal compoundable cases, cases under Section 138, MACT cases, marriage disputes, labour dispute cases, land acquisition cases, civil, revenue, electricity, water tax, sales tax, income tax, indirect tax, cases related to post retirement benefits, service cases which are related to post retirement calamity compensation, civil appeal, second appeal, petitions, MACT appeal before the High Court and other civil and public related disputes with mutual consent during the National Lok Adalat.

Shrivastava further informed that nearly 3,63,644 cases were taken up at pre-litigation stage during the Lok Adalat.
Of the same, nearly 41,244 cases were disposed and amount of Rs 32,60,63,182 was settled. Amongst 2,29,639 cases of settlement, which were lying pending before various courts, as many as 22,866 cases were disposed and award of Rs 1,41,99,28,402 was issued. Likewise, total 5,93,283 cases were taken up in the National Lok Adalat amongst the same 64,110 cases were
disposed and awards of Rs 1,74,59,91,584 were issued.
