REEF gives away prizes to winners in environ contest

Shri Ramdeobaba College Engineers for Environment Forum (REEF), the environment club of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), concluded its month long inter-school ecological awareness and research competition by conducting prize distribution ceremony on July 29 to mark Global Tiger Day.


REEF received encouraging response from students of different schools in the competition named ‘How Green is Youth Campus? - Challenges Beyond Boundaries’.


Kishor Mishrikotkar, Retired Divisional Forest Officer, was the chief guest while M S Dhere, Deputy Director, Social Forestry, was the guest of honour. Govindlal Agrawal, General Secretary of the college, and Dr S D Mohgaonkar, Dean Second Shift, graced the occasion.


The overall winners of the competition were Centre Point School, Amravati road bypass. First runner up was St. Vincent Palloti School while TBRANS Mundle School was adjuged as the second runner up. Other schools that participate in the final day event were: Bhavan’s B P Vidya Mandir, Trimurti Nagar, Shri Krishna Nagar and Civil Lines, St Xavier’s High School, Hiwri, G H Raisoni Vidyaniketan, Ambazari road, Shri Rajendra High School, Vimalatai Tidke Convent and School of Scholars, Wanadongri.


These schools had an interesting interactive session with Mishrikotkar and Dhere. There were questions also on how to qualify Indian Forestry Services.
Venkatesh Mudliar, Dr Sandeep Hate, Tanveer Mirza, Vandana Majumdar, Prof Akansha Deshpande, Supriya Kawadkar, Dr Deepshikha Mehra, teachers, students and non-teaching staff attended the function.
