Raipur Collector celebrates ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with leprosy patients

District Collector O P Choudhary celebrated ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with leprosy patients at his office with an objective of sending a message to the society which is yet to completely overcome from the practice of untouchability. It is to be mentioned, Department of Health has planned celebration of Raksha Bandhan from August 7 to 13 with leprosy patients to remove misconception prevailing in the society towards the disease as well as people suffering from it.

To set an example for others, District Collector Choudhary invited women suffering from leprosy to his office to tie ‘rakhi’ from them. Chief Medical and Health Officer said that the leprosy patients were felicitated on the occasion.

The health department organised ‘Raksha Bandhan programmes at Community Health Centre Kharora on August 5, Gandhi Seva Samiti Raipur on August 6.

Tilda Nagar Palika president Mahesh Agrawal chaired a programme on Raksha Bandhan.
