THE submission made by the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board in the Supreme Court that a mosque could be built at a reasonable distance from the birth place of Lord Ram in Ayodhya is welcome as it is a significant step in the direction of resolution of the issue. The submission is in tune with the desire expressed by most of the people in the country. The vexed issue of Ram Janmabhoomi has been pending in the court for long. The apex court took note of the delay and has decided to fast track the hearing on the batch of petitions. In the larger interest of the society and peace, the parties involved in the case should cooperate with the court in order to resolve the issue once and for all. Several proposals were mooted in the past to resolve the issue. However, none were accepted by the parties involved. The Shia Board has now taken a pragmatic view and filed its submission before the apex court, suggesting that mosque could be built at a distance away from the birth place of Lord Ram. The suggestion deserves to be looked at positively by all the parties.

HOME Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh has turned the tables on the Congress party, which tried to corner the Government in the Lok Sabha on the issue of stone attack on Congress Vice President Mr. Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat recently. Mr. Rajnath Singh has made it clear to the nation that the Government was not at fault as Mr. Rahul Gandhi had refused to use a bullet-proof vehicle, violating security protocol. No doubt, the attack on Mr. Rahul Gandhi must be condemned and the guilty must be punished. But why Mr. Rahul Gandhi refused bullet-proof vehicle? Is it proper to blame the Government unnecessarily in such a case? It seems that the Congress party has deliberately tried to defame the Government. However, it was exposed badly in the process. Because, Mr. Rajnath Singh has pointed out that Mr. Rahul Gandhi did not use bullet proof car on 100 occasions outside the country. The nation wants to know why. There are no takers for the lame excuse given by the party that Mr. Rahul feels suffocated in bullet-proof car.
