3-day orientation programme of IIIT begins

Three-day orientation programme of International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur started on Thursday for inducting its new batch of students.
Chhattisgarh government’s Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister N Baijendra Kumar was the Chief guest and Skillmine Technology Consulting Pvt. Ltd. Managing Directo Anant Agrawal was guest of honour for the opening session of this programme Welcoming the guests and the new students to the institute, IIIT Naya Raipur Vice Chancellor and Director Dr Pradeep K Sinha, on behalf of his team, promised the students to provide them with the necessary resources, equipment and a highly creative environment to enable them to flourish as per their capabilities and become world class professionals to make Chhattisgarh proud.

Baijendra Kumar thanked the students for choosing to study at IIIT-NR and re-assured the support of Chhattisgarh Government to IIIT-NR in all possible ways. In his address, he highlighted how IIIT-NR has been an institute of focus of Chhattisgarh Government, while the Government is working hard to take the higher and technical education of the state to the next level.


Anant Agrawal delivered the Keynote Address on the topic “Engineering & Technology – Influencing the Society”. In the same session, the 2nd and 3rd year students of IIIT-NR made a presentation showcasing the prototype systems that they have built based on the learnings and activities at their institute.


Dr Bijaya K Panigrahy, Registrar, IIIT-NR delivered the vote of thanks for the forenoon session.
In the afternoon session titled “IIIT-NR Family and Its Culture”, Dr Pradeep K Sinha introduced the new students to the cultural aspects of IIIT-NR Campus, covering various Do’s and Don’ts of campus life at IIIT-NR.


Professor O P Vyas, Dean (Academics) then talked about the salient features of IIIT-NR Academics. Dr P P Paltani, Assistant Professor and In-charge Examinations, then explained to the students the assessment and grading system followed at IIIT-NR, encouraging them to be prepared for continuous assessment during their semesters.
The first day of the orientation program concluded with an evening session in which the new students were mentored by their seniors.
