Gaur inaugurates cycle track at Hoshangabad

THE much awaited cycle track and smart poll in Hoshangabad road was inaugurated on Friday in city. Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Babulal Gaur and Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation (BSCDCL) CEO Chandramauli Shukla inaugurated the cycle track. On this occasion, public bike sharing was also inaugurated.

Many other dignitaries and BMC officials were also present during the event. Shukla informed about the projects being carried out under smart city Yojana. He said that, with worth three thousand and four hundred crore rupees smart city is being developed in TT Nagar. Target time frame of ten years have been chalked out for the project.


Around 400 smart poll will be installed in city. In these polls wifi services, LED lights , pollution parameters details, mobile company tower, CCTV camera and additional four services will be provided. He also informed that for cycle sharing around 18,000 people have downloaded the app. Large-scale Public Bike Sharing (PBS) project is a much awaited project .

Earlier, it was expected to to kick off in Bhopal February 2017making it one of the first cities to roll out the scheme but due to administrative reasons formal inauguration did not happen. BMC’s cycling track on Hoshangabad road have docked stations for German made bikes that come with a board computer and integrated electric locks. Stretching 12 kms with 500 bicycles and a central control room, it is considered to be one-of-a-kind initiative that will promote non-motorised transport.


Chandramauli Shukla said that, the PBS Project that boasts of the country's widest cycling track at 5 metres, is part of the smart city proposal. It has to be noted that, this project is considered as first large network, IT-based smart project.
The stations will be connected to a central control room so that cycles can be tracked.

In Phase-II, we plan to implement it on an entire 24 kms long BRT corridor with more stations in colonies, markets and public places for better last mile connectivity.


In Bhopal, around 500 cycles have been installed for common people. Babulal Gaur appreciated the development works carried out by Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation and also suggested officials to come-up with plan to develop track joining Chetak bridge connecting Anna Nagar to ease traffic in this area . During the inaugural ceremony, Gaur also tried his hand on riding cycle.
