Army Mela: Daredevils stun spectators

Army Mela was inaugurated in a series of Independence Day celebrations at headquarters Madhya Bharat Area at premises of The Grenadiers Regimental Centre Parade Ground, on Saturday. The two days fair is being organised on theme ‘Know your Forces’ to inform about the significance of Army establishments in the city and introduce the residents with defence weapons and resources available with the Armed forces for security of the nation. Army Mela will be opened for visitors on Sunday free of cost from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Army Mela was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Sanjeev Kanal, General Officer Commanding, Madhya Bharat Area while other senior rank officers from different units graced the function.Guests visited the counters exhibiting the strength of Armed forces and briefed about the defence weapons fielded for security of national borders. Main attractions of the exhibition are big guns including 135 mm and 155 mm guns which plays significant role in security of national borders.

The Army Mela emphasised on as the equipment on display would certainly act as a motivator for the young generation that thronged the area to get a glimpse of what the Armed forces are equipped with to ensure their freedom and safety as also arouse the thoughts of donning the uniform one day in the minds of the young visitors. Exclusive counters for recruitment to provide requisite information on joining the armed forces and medical services for benefit of veterans and their dependents were also established during the fair. The Military Brass Band group added grace to the event.

The martial tunes and other musical notes were enjoyed by all visitors and some could not stop tapping their feet to the melodious scores. Besides this, Army personnel gave thrilling performances of Martial Art, fire jump while stunts of Daredevils stunned the spectators. Army Mela not only provided the required exposure to the locals of Jabalpur but also contributed immensely in bringing the uniformed fraternity closer to the civilian counterparts whose faith in their defence forces would certainly be optimised by seeing what they did and the same would certainly prompt them to persuade the children to take up this challenging career.A large number of residents along with their children and groups of students visited the Army Mela and witnessed lethal arms, weapons and other resources being used for security of the nation.
