Chief Minister of Maharashtra and several Union Ministers to grace various functions

First external party aircraft to be inducted at Air India MRO in MIHAN for maintenance

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and a host of Union Ministers will be in the city on Sunday to launch several projects that will further strengthen Nagpur’s identity as healthcare hub and as an investment destination in aviation sector. The Chief Minister will unveil the foundation stone of Indo-UK Institute of Health Medicity in a ceremony to be held at Hotel Le Meridien, Wardha Road, at 11.30 am on Sunday.

The Medicity is coming up in association with King’s Medical College Hospital, London (UK), as part of the largest healthcare project by the Governments of India and Britain. The construction of the project may be completed in three years. The entire project comprises 1,100 bedded hospital under UK National Health Services, and there will be collaboration between the specialists from India and UK.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways, and Shipping; J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare; Faggan Singh Kulaste, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare; Lord Robert Kerslake, Chairman, King’s College Hospital, London; Rt Andrew Mitchell, Member of Parliament, UK; Jane Grady, Deputy Director, Trade, Economics and Prosperity, India (British Deputy High Commission) will be the guests of honour on the occasion. Dr Ajay Rajan Gupta, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Indo-UK Institute of Health, also will share the dais on the occasion. 

The Chief Minister will also launch the first phase of 470-bedded National Cancer Institute (NCI) in a ceremony to be held at 12.30 pm on Sunday. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways; Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Trust also will grace the occasion. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines (Independent Charge); Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas (Independent Charge); Dilip Shanghvi, Managing Director, Sun Pharmaceutical Limited; Girish Mahajan, Maharashtra Minister of Medical Education; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur district, will be the guests.

A dream project of Devendra Fadnavis, NCI is coming up on 23.5 acres near Jamtha Stadium under the aegis of Dr Aabaji Thatte Seva Aur Anusandhan Trust. The first phase of NCI will comprise radiation oncology, mammography, MRI and PET scan, molecular laboratory and other modern facilities. Adv Sunil Manohar is the President of Dr Aabaji Thatte Anusandhan Sanstha, and Shailesh Joglekar is General Secretary. Dr Anand Pathak is Medical Director.

The induction ceremony will take place at 2.30 pm at Air India MRO-SEZ Unit, in MIHAN area on Sunday. The induction of first external party aircraft for major maintenance is an important milestone for the MRO unit here.
