One more woman dies of swine flu, toll reaches 4

A woman suffering from swine flu in city died of Saturday and now the death toll of swine flu patients reached to four. In state there were 131 samples of najal-swab were tested and of them 24 tested positive. Due to wetness in climate many swine flu patients are diagnosed at different districts. But more swine flu suspected patients are found in city. Many patients are from outside as per the district health authorities.

In city, 13 samples of swine flu suspected patients were sent to Virology Lab, Jabalpur. 9 samples of dengue and 3 samples of Chikungunya suspected patients were sent for testing. However, no test report from Virology Lab about pending samples of swine flu have not yet received till late evening by the district health authorities.

Health officers said special Out Patient Department (OPD), special wards for swine flu patients have also been ready. Despite, the swine flu patients prefer to be treated in private hospitals in place of Government hospitals. Three death of swine flu patients occurred in private hospitals of the city.

When contacted Dr Sudhir Jaisani, Chief Medical & Health Officer, said no test report of swine flu patients was received but 13 samples of swine flu suspected patients were sent to Virology Lab for testing. 9 samples of dengue and 3 of chikungunya suspected patients were received for testing, he said. “I do not have knowledge of one more death of swine flu patient in city’s hospital. I will get it confirmed”, he said.
