Vehicle checking intensifies in city ahead of Independence Day

As Independence Day is nearing, the traffic police and cops from Thans are gearing up for checking vehicles. But in some main checking points, the cops are disappeared from the checking points allowing traffic jam. On Saturday, such scene was witnessed at Board Office square. The instructions to the traffic cops are given to catch suspected two and four wheelers by stopping them. and it is in order to avoid any untoward incident. Besides, the cops are eyeing on rash driving also. On Friday, there were 8 checking points but on Saturday, the checking points were hiked to 16 and in coming days the vehicle checking points will be increased.

The cops deployed on vehicle checking points have been given breath analyzers to check drunken driving. Many accidents are happened due to drunken driving. Besides traffic police’s checking points, the SHOs of different Thans have also arranged vehicle checking at their areas to control rash driving and drunken driving, it reduces road accidents.In coming two days, vehicle checking will be more in main roads, high ways and those signals squares where there is more traffic.

Usually, checking is continued from day to night. But the cops have been asked to be more alert after 9 to 12 pm when there was more cases of rash driving were seen and more road accidents are recorded.  As per information, the main vehicle checking points are Bittan Market, 10 Number Bus Stop, Board Office Square, Roashanpura Square, Hamidia Road, Lalghati, Bairagarh, Govindpura, Piplani, Kolar Road Bridge, Mata Mandir and others.However, due to shortage of traffic cops at many places they are disappeared in the evening. The senior traffic officers are said to have taken it seriously and will take action against the erring cops.

In a recent meeting the traffic cops have been asked to be careful in vehicle checking ahead of Independence Day.When contacted Basant Kaul, DSP, Traffic said that gradually the vehicle checking points are being increasing to intensify the checking on roads. On Friday there were only 8 points, on Saturday, the checking points hiked to 16. Besides, our checking points, the SHOs have also arranged vehicle checking at their areas, he said.
