Staff Reporter,

A rare species of snake having two heads was seized from a person on board Hyderabad-bound Dakshin Express on Wednesday. The seizure was effected by a team of Crime Branch of Railway Protection Force (RPF). The accused is identified as Saman Hoshiyar Gosai (24), a resident of Shankargarh in Allahabad district.

The RPF got information about smuggling of animals and hence a team of Crime Branch comprising Sub-Inspector Arun Thawre, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sanjay Purkam, Head Constable (HC) Vijay Patil, HC Dipak Wankhede, constables Kishor Choudhary and Nilkanth Gore boarded Train No. 12722.

The team started checking the general compartment of the train and caught a person holding a bag as he was behaving suspiciously. The information proved to be correct and on checking the content of bag the RFP team found a two headed snake. The arrested youth was on way to Hyderabad to deliver the snake whose price in international market ranges from Rs. 15 to 20 lakh. The demand for such snake is quite high and one came across such types of species very rarely.

The two headed snake is very rare to find and hence its seizure is considered significant. The RPF officials later contacted Forest Officials and handed over the two headed snake to Range Forest Officer (RFO), Seminary Hills.
