Sports persons, coaches honoured on National Sports Day

State Government honoured 316 sportspersons and coaches of the state with Shaheed Rajeeev Pandey Award, Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award, Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Award, Shaheed Vinod Choubey Award and Veer Hanuman Singh Award for the year 2017-18 in an impressive ceremony organised at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium here on the occasion of National Sports Day on Tuesday. The 75 outstanding sportspersons were given cash award of Rs 53 lakh. Similarly, 241 medal winners in different sports disciplines of the state were given cash prize of Rs 31 lakh.

Total Rs 84 lakh cash prize was distributed among the sportspersons. Olympian hockey player Renuka Yadav among four sportspersons to receive the highest individual sports honour Shaheed Rajeev Pandey Award 2017-18 in Olympic Games category The remaining three sportspersons received the award are Srishti Nag (Swimming), Sangeeta Kaur (Basketball) and Rajni (Handball) in Olympics category. In non-Olympic category, Nitin Singh (Karate) and Anjali Nair (Roll Ball) received the award.

In Para-Olympic, Sangeeta Masih (athletics) and Prithviraj Ramtek (cricket-Deaf) received the award. Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award recipients for 2017-18 are Kelmit Lepcha (Archery), Gulafsa Ali (Basketball), Akarshi Kashyap (Badminton) and Neetu Sonwani (Kayaking Canoeing) in Olympics category, Manas Kesharwani (Softball) and Mihika Talukdar (Karate) in Non-Olympics and Anjana (Para Swimming).


Veer Hanuman Singh Award 2017-18 recipients are Karateka Amlendu Talukdar and Volleyball player Mohd Gous Baig.
Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Award 2017-18 recipients are Indu Nishad (Fencing), Lata (Judo), Ashok Kumar and Hemlata Sarva (Kayaking Canoeing), K Aneesha and Amit Kumar Baru (Softball), Kaushal Kumar Verma and Payal Pradhan (Volleyball) and Kunal Dev and Priyanka Singh (Table Tennis) in Olympics category. Similarly, Kamalkishore Dhiwar and D Parul (Wushu), Santosh Kumar Sahu and Anita Vishwakarma (Kabaddi), Ramendra Yadav and Amrita Singh Ball Badminton), Akash Kumar Sharma (Tenni-Koit), Avinash Kumar Acharya (Kho-Kho), A Sudarshan (Boxing), Malik Mohammad (Baseball) received the award in Non-Olympic category. Manish Kumar Gupta (Badminton), Javed Khan (Football), Anup Choudhary (Fencing), Juhi Dewangan (Badminton) in Olympics category received the award while Suresh Kumar Madhurkar received award in Para-Olympics category.


Shaheed Vinod Choube Award 2017-18 was conferred on Balmukund Singh (master athlete), Hemant Kumar Sahu (Handball), Sameer Sarkar (Table Tennis), Satyaprakash Masih (Power Lifting) and Jashwant Kumar Claudius (Commentator).


Sr Soft Tennis team, Jr Softball team received CM’s Trophy. Soft Tennis Men’s team includes Lawrence Santiago, Neel Shukla, Henry Santiago, Harpreet Varia, R Trinath Rao, Dilip Vishwakarma, Rohin Santiago, Himanshu Mourya, trainer Ravishankar Dhangar and Pramod Singh Thakur, will receive Chief Minister’s Trophy 2017-18 in Senior group. Similarly, Softball Boys’ team, including Raju Sahu, Nikhil Nayak, Mohit Thakur, Animesh Tandi, Raj Mahanand, Jagdish Mahanand, Raj Deshlehre, Manas Kesharwani, P Ashish, Shah Nadeem, Sonu Gupta, Narsingh Netam, Sourabh Yadav, Lalit, Yugal Kishore Dewangan, Neeelkamal, Neeraj Yadav and Coach Pradeep Kumar Sahu, received the award from Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
