ICAR-CCRI celebrates Foundation Day

ICAR-CENTRAL Citrus Research Institute (CCRI), Nagpur celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day recently. During the fortnight long celebration various events like sorts, essays, quiz etc., were organised in which all employees participated. Prof Dr S P Kane Vice–Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University was the chief guest during the concluding event.

Dr M S Ladaniya, Director welcomed the guests and gave brief outline of achievements and services provided by the institute.
He highlighted on achievements of ICAR and stressed that first time horticultural production in the country has touched 290 million tonne while the foodgrain production is 274 tonne.
He opined that ICAR has been the torchbearer of agricultural development in the country.

He said that with ICAR’s systematic and scientific agricultural research, education and extension work coupled with progressive policies of the Government, the country has succeeded in removing the blot of famine from the country.
He said that climate change and erratic rainfall are resulting in crop failures.

Dr Kane spoke about status of higher education in the country. He elaborated on structure of universities and higher education institutions in the country and stressed on need to provide quality education from the school level itself so that students who are entering into colleges are of good quality, informs a press release.

Dr Kane distributed prizes and trophies to the winners of various events. Students of College of Agriculture, Nagpur also participated in the concluding event. Dr D K Ghosh, Principal Scientist proposed vote of thanks and Dr A D Huchche, Principal Scientist compered the programme and co-ordinated various events.
Dr R A Marathe and Dr R K Sonkar and Sunil Kumar, Technical Officer organised various events.
