Business Bureau,

TWO co-opted members of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) recently promised the Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) to give priority to various issues of the city-based traders and resolve them.

While speaking at a function organised recently by NVCC to felicitate Corporators Sunil Agrawal and Advocate Nishant Gandhi, both nominated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the municipal body, said that they would take up the traders- related issues in the general body meetings on regular basis.

Agrawal said the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has been showing concerns for the traders right from the beginning. “The civic body is working hard to maintain cleanliness in all the commercial places in the city and also developing civic amenities for the convenience of the traders and citizens as well. Besides, we will also direct municipal administration to modernise some of the busy and congested market places,” he said.

Expressing concerns over the civic body’s recent decision of the NMC with regard to revision of rental charges of shops owned by the corporation, Agrawal said he would asked the civic authorities to make the charges reasonable. “The civic body has made stupendous hike in the rates which is not going down well with many traders. Considering this, we will discuss the matter with the concerned authorities,” he said.

Nishant Gandhi said both the corporators would be available for the traders 24x7.
“We belong to trading community and hence we are aware of problems faced by them. We have decided to visit the chamber every week so that we can help the traders and eventually boost trading activities in the city,” he further said.

Gandhi appealed to the established players to create awareness among small traders on Goods and Services Tax (GST). “The GST is a biggest tax reform in the country which will take the country’s economy to a new high. However, we need to educate the traders so that they could feel comfortable and prosper,” he added.

The Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) felicitated the corporators at the 9th executive committee meeting.
Sunil Agrawal was felicitated at the hands of Prakash Mehadia, President of NVCC while Advocate Nishant Gandhi was feted at the hands of Hemant Gandhi, Vice-President of NVCC.

Raju Vyas, Vice-President of NVCC was felicitated by Prakash Mehadia for being elected as General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Pushitkar Seva Parishad. Office-bearers of the NVCC, traders and others were present on the occasion.
