Staff Reporter,

BHILAI,

CHHATTISGARH State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) imposed strict regulations for deployment of Operators at power sub-stations of the company in the State. The State power distribution company issued a circular in the same context.

According to information, as per the recently issued circular, the diploma of electrician or wireman trade from recognised ITI (Industrial Training Institute) would only be deployed for operation and maintenance of CSPDCL power substation across the State. In case of any malpractices stern punitive measures would be initiated against contractors concerned. The sources informed that the State power company authorities issued the second circular in a short interval in the same context.

As per the information, in case of malpractices regarding deployment of unskilled or semiskilled operators instead of the diploma holers, the contractor would be libel for Rs 10,000 fine for each such operator. Besides, such operators deployed at power substations would be treated as unskilled or semiskilled workers and the contractors concerned will also be libel for refunding the difference payment to the company regarding such operators from the date of deployment. As part of verification process, the contractor will have to ensure verification from the institute concerned within three months. The certificates already submitted with divisional level office or those belong to national level institute will not be required verification.

In the previously issued circular the diploma of electrician or wireman trade from recognised ITI (Industrial Training Institute) centre was made mandatory for serving as Operator and the contractors were directed for producing the duly attested copy of the diploma certificate of Operators prior to deputising them at various power substations for operation and maintaining undisrupted power supply. The directives were issued in the backdrops of reports and complaints regarding prevailing malpractices of deputising matriculates and non-graduates as Operator instead of diploma holders at various sub stations of the State power company.

The circular was floated considering the requirements of electrical diploma for operations and properly maintaining the power supplies and to avoid unwarranted mishaps. The diploma holders also maintain operation following power tripping thereby spare the state power company from unwarranted revenue loss.

When contacted, A K Agrawal, Executive Director, Operation and Maintenance, CSPDCL asserted that the power company was initiating measures in regular interval for ensuring best possible consumer services and apt maintenance of equipments and infrastructure.
