Architect Raj Rewal delivers talk at MANIT

On Saturday, legendary Architect of India, Architect Raj Rewal delivered his wisdom for the students of Architecture and Planning at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT). It is grace for the Department of Architecture and Planning, MANIT, and Bhopal that Legendary Architect of India, Architect Raj Rewal has delivered his wisdom for the students. In his talk, he explained about his global precedents with his urban narratives of design that have been integrally and richly steeped in their contextual inferences which reflect his fascination for weaving expressions of heritage and history into a modern vocabulary.

He emphasized his work by concern for climatic sensitivity, humane architecture and the promotion of craftsmanship and new technologies. He talked about humanist approach to architecture which responds to the complexities of rapid urbanization, the demands of climate, cultural traditions, and building crafts and technologies. He also talked about, Design Philosophy of His built works, which comprise a wide range of building types, including the Iconic Hall of Nations, Nehru Pavilion, the Scope office complex, the Central Institute of Educational Technology, the World Bank building, the National Institute of Immunology, the Parliament Library, and the Asian Games Village, all located in New Delhi, India, as well as the Ismaïli Centre in Lisbon, Portugal. He detailed out Elements of Architectural Design of his buildings, with respect to structure, space, light, material craft, technology etc.

Over 200 students were glad to share his wisdom along with distinguished guests and faculty. They all interacted with this Doyen of Architecture. This event was successfully convened by HOD Arch and Planning and coordinated by Dr. Rajshree Kamat and Dr. Anuj Jaiswal.
