Staff Reporter,

A unique effort has been made by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) to connect people with ‘Deendayal Rasoi Yojana’ under which subsidised meal is made available at Rs 5 per plate to people, especially the economically disadvantaged sections of society. On Saturday, under new initiative, BMC Chairman Surjeet Singh Chouhan celebrated his daughter’s birthday at ‘Deendayal Rasoi’ located in front of hospital near Shahjehani Park.

His daughter Prakrati Chouhan celebrated her birthday with differently-abled children. After cake cutting ceremony she gave it to children and served food to them. On the other hand BMC Chairman Surjeet Chouhan and his wife Deepti Chouhan not only cooked food for them but also served it to poor and elderly  persons along with especially abled children. The beneficiaries not only thanked the couple but also showered lots of blessings on birthday girl Prakrati.

Notably in order to connect more people with ‘Deendayal Rasoi Yojana’ and make it popular among Bhopalites, the donors who are willingly providing money for the scheme are being invited by the BMC at ‘Deendayal Rasoi’ in order to express gratitude towards them on the occasion of birthday party of any of their family members.

City Mayor Alok Sharma, BMC Chairman Surjeet Singh Chouhan and civic body commissioner Chhavi Bhardwaj together had started this move. Notably, the thali’s per person actual cost is around Rs 20, but people had to pay only Rs 5 per plate. BMC is arranging money through donations and amount of Rs 5,000 is being taken from the people voluntarily wanted to donate for this noble cause.
