Youth arrested for stealing electric poles

Kotraroad police have arrested a youth on charges of theft and recovered three electric poles worth Rs 60,000. The accused has been identified as Narayan Sahu (32), a local resident of Singhra village under Malkharaud police limits. Recently, some of the villagers at Khairpur saw a person who was cutting the electric poles with gas cutter and loading the poles in pick-up van OR-23 B-9634. When enquired, the person introduced himself as Narayan Sahu, sub engineer of Khairpur power distribution department.

The fake sub engineer told that the department has ordered to cut the electric poles. Suspecting him as fake person, one of the villagers informed the entire incident to crime branch Inspector Shushant Banerjee and power distribution department Assistant Engineer Manoj Kumar Patel. On receiving information, the power distribution department officials and Inspector Banerjee along with his team reached the spot and arrested the accused person.

During interrogation, Narayan admitted his crime and informed that earlier he was working as a contract labourer under a petty contractor. Since long time he was going through financial crisis. In order to solve this financial problem, Narayan planned to cut the poles and sell them, but unfortunately he was caught in the act. Police have arrested the accused under relevant sections and sent him to jail on judicial remand.
