Speakers at ‘The Hitavada’ Annual Conclave of Heads of Institutions of Higher Education deliberate on the theme, ‘Adding Scholarship to Teaching’

Education is a tool of value addition that helps a student to evolve into a responsible citizen of the country. In the process, teachers provide the critical dimension by shaping and orienting the thinking of students. In the era of globalisation, it has become imperative that education meets the desired expectations so that those partaking it can play rightful role in development. At the same time, one has to blend education with aid of technology to explain the subject by ensuring that essence of teaching does not become lost during the process.


The speakers at ‘The Hitavada’ Annual Conclave of Heads of Institutions of Higher Education on Sunday dealt on the topic, ‘Adding Scholarship to Teaching’ in exhaustive manner. They elaborated the subject by adding newer dimensions and explained finer nuances of teaching. Also, they lay bare the current system of assessment and teaching while providing a studied input as to what needed for its betterment.


Each of the authors had a point to make, saying education system in country itself is not bad and teachers are going in right direction to bring out the best among students. ‘The Hitavada’ had invited five eminent speakers from varied backgrounds to explain the concept as to how one can take the current level of education to a new level. And the speakers, Sanjay Bhargava, Chairman, Shiksha Mandal, Wardha; Sulbha Patil, Deputy Registrar, Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University; Prof Sujata Deo, Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science; Dr P Sivaswaroop, Regional Director, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Nagpur Centre; and Dr Rajshree Vaishnav, Dean, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, provided a level of utmost understanding into the issues governing the higher education in country and elaborated on steps being taken by Government. They also provided their frank assessment on current system of education, elaborating on changes that have gone through the years. Aasawari Shenolikar, Magazine Editor, ‘The Hitavada’, conducted the proceedings. At the outset, she elaborated theme of the conclave and explained values of the institution. Vikas Vaidya, Principal Correspondent, proposed a vote of thanks, acknowledging the guests for converging on ‘The Hitavada’ platform for facilitating exchange of ideas.
