Friendship Day on Sunday was marked in a unique way by the judges of District and Sessions Court, Raipur, who after planting saplings tied threads with them with the resolve of friendship and care.
The District Judge Neelam Chand Sankhla signified the importance of trees as the best friends of human beings.

It was under the leadership of the district judge that the friendship day was celebrated in the unique way. All the judges of the district court and also judicial employees assembled at the bungalow of the district judge. Near about 150 saplings were planted and everyone tied thread with his/her respective sapling with the resolve.

It is worth pointing out that the friendship day this year is followed by Rakshabandhan festival on Monday. The district judge planted almond tree and tied the ‘Rakshasutra’ with it. In poetic expression, he gave the call on the occasion to hug a new friend and that meant tree.

While signifying the importance of trees, he gave the call that everyone has the duty to plant more and more trees to save the human race. To the judges and judicial employees, the district judges advised to plant sapling in vacant places of their respective residences and to make them grow into trees. “If we take care of this friend of ours today, it will grow up and protect our generations,” he said.

Commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation Rajat Bansal and Superintendent of Police, Raipur, Dr Sanjeev Shukla also took part in the tree plantation programme. Everyone opined that this is the best way to celebrate Friendship Day and Rakshabandhan and this initiative of today will result into an oxy zone of the area in future.
