Staff Reporter,

There is a distinct possibility that popular Nagpur-Mumbai-Nagpur Duronto Express might run on alternate day even as Central Railway Headquarters efforts are on to scout for spare Alstom LHB coaches. Owing to derailment at Asangaon of Mumbai bound Duranto Express, there is a shortage of nine coaches, mostly air conditioned, and spare LHB coaches are rare to find over Indian Railways. Against this backdrop when asked, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Brijesh Gupta said that Headquarters is likely to take the call on Duranto Express running very soon, including that of alternate day run which is being discussed in higher echelons.

The Hitavada had already reported that nine derailed coaches are anytime soon to be deployed for service as they would have to undergo repairs and thereafter fitness test. During that time the question mark could hung over running of Duranto Express.

DRM Gupta was interacting with mediapersons on Thursday against backdrop of conclusion of fortnight long cleanliness fortnight. Asked about Duranto Express he said one full rake, 18 coaches are there at Nagpur, but the one that went to Mumbai is out of question now. Since Duranto rake composition is of LHB coaches and such types of trains are not running either at Central or Western Railways. Hence request for LHB coaches has been sent to Railway Board which is inquiring with other Zones where LHB rakes are available and seeing if some coaches can be spared.

The Duranto Express is very important from Nagpur Division's point of view and any cancellation of its run would disturb the earnings
position, said senior division officials. Hence there is daily liasoning with Headquarters to inquire about availability of Duranto rake.

At the press conference, DRM Gupta informed about the activities that took place during the cleanliness fortnight. This time the focus was on internal assets to ensure employees stick to maintaining cleanness at office, workshop and depots. Intensive campaign was undertaken to check Pantry Cars and any deficiency was reported to despite division which has primary maintenance of the trains.

Only minor infringement as to non display of price charts
was noticed in checks of pantry cars and DRM claimed that the campaign received huge response and described it as huge success.
