Woman’s relatives allege carelessness by hospital staffers

Muskan, who was admitted to Sultania Janana Hospital after labour pain on Tuesday night delivered a baby in hospital’s toilet on Thursday evening. As the baby was delivered, the doctors finding baby too weak referred it to Sick New-born Care Unit (SNCU) at Kamla Nehru Hospital in the evening. As the woman delivered baby in toilet, her family members rushed to toilet to see their patient on the information of a patient’s attendants.

However, it is not first time when such incident happened in Sultania Janana Hospital, earlier many pregnant women, new-borns had died there posing a question over hospital services.
Manohar Vanshkar, who is brother of Muskan’s husband, told ‘The Hitavada’ that doctor and nurses denied them to see their patient.

When Muskan was having sever labour pain I tried to call doctors and nurses to attend Muskan, but nobody came to see her. Ultimately, when she went to toilet she delivered a baby. Doctors and nurses did not tell us anything. Some nurses pushed me and my mother who was trying to see her sister-in-law.

It is utter carelessness of the doctors and nurses and the baby was referred to SNCU, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Hamidia Hospital premises. Neither doctors nor nurses told anything to us, he claimed. On the other hand, Dr Karan Peepre, Superintendent, Sultania Janana Hospital, said when Muskan delivered a baby in hospital toilet, as the information was spread, I along with a senior doctor and nurses reached the place. Baby and her mother were examined. Muskan is well while baby delivered was of five months so she was weak and referred to SNCU, Kamla Nehru Hospital immediately by arranging the ambulance. Muskan was weak to and she was transfused blood. There was no carelessness of the medicos or paramedical staff as what happened I was present there, he said.
