A 40-year-old man, a bus conductor by profession, was on late Friday night stabbed to death by his minor son after a spat between his father and mother at home in New Categorised Market under Hanumanganj police station. Police have booked the son on charges of murder and took him into custody immediately after the crime.

SHO of Hanumanganj Jitendra Pathak, who is also investigation officer in the case, told ‘The Hitavada’ that deceased identified as Irfan Qureshi, 40, son of Sattar Qureshi, resides at Gurunanak Colony in New Kabadhana area, and worked as conductor in feeder bus plying on Bhopal-Obedullaganj route. The deceased is survived by his wife, daughter and three sons.

The deceased Irfan has two brothers, Javed and Afsar. Irfan used to quarrel with his wife frequently suspecting her that she had developed physical relationship with one of his brothers, Javed. The children of deceased often come to the rescue of their mother during their spat. Two years ago, Irfan had attacked his brother Javed over the same issue.

From past three days, Irfan was not going to work and on Friday night he again picked up a quarrel with his wife on the same issue and unable to bear the harassment on mother, their son took her to his uncle’s home nearby. After their departure, Irfan started pressurising family members to bring back his wife. At around 12:15 pm on Saturday, when the minor son returned home with his mother, Irfan again started misbehaving with his wife. After a heated argument when he tried to attack his wife, the children somehow saved their mother and took her to aunt’s house.
After the spat the enraged 16-year-old son took the knife from his father and attacked him on chest several times. Following the incident, injured Irfan was rushed to Hamidia Hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment after an hour.
