Collector, others pitch in to clean Narmada

JMC officials and Collector removed weed and waste from the river under Swachh Jagrukta Karyakram and appealed people to come forward and extend full support in the noble cause

Senior officials of Health Department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Collector Mahesh Chandra Chouhdary, on Sunday carried out cleanliness drive in river Narmada at Gwarighat.


JMC officials and Collector removed weed and waste from the river under Swachh Jagrukta Karyakram and appealed people to come forward and extend full support in the noble cause.
He on the occasion also held talk over further beautification of river banks and keeping them more organized. The Collector also met priests, who perform religious rituals at the river bank and vowed them of providing organized place to them. He assured that the administration would take needed steps in this direction after Dussehra.


The Collector also met with locals and asked them to extend support in cleaning of the river. He said due to scanty rainfall weed and other waste has surfaced on the river. These unwanted things would have to be removed from the river to ensure its cleanliness.


He said people are thronging the river banks to perform rituals during the on-going Pitra Paksh and are facing convenience due to weed and waste. Therefore, it is very essential that weed must be taken out from the river.


He on the occasion directed, Deputy Commissioner of JMC, Rakesh Ayachi and Health Office, G S Chandel to ensure proper cleanliness of the river banks so that people could perform rituals in clean environment.
