President to inaugurate Suresh Bhat memorial auditorium, meditation centre at Kamptee

President of India Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate Suresh Bhat Memorial Auditorium at Reshimbag on September 22 at 4 pm. He will also inaugurate meditation centre at Dragon Palace, Kamptee and will also visit historic Deekshabhoomi. This will be maiden visit of new President to Nagpur.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has requested President of India Kovind to inaugurate Bhat Hall. Union Minister for Road, Transport, and Shipping Nitin Gadkari made a formal request to President of India recently. Highly placed sources claimed that President of India’s office has informed Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Chief Minister’s office regarding dates of President of India. Governor of Maharashtra C Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Standing Committee Chief Sandeep Jadhav, Ruling Party leader Sandip Joshi will be present on the dais.

A meeting to finalise the detail of the programme is organised on September 11 at 3 pm at Dragon Palace, Kamptee. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister will chair the meeting. Similarly, district administration and NMC
administration is also gearing up to welcome President of India.

The first solar powered auditorium of the city -- Suresh Bhat memorial auditorium, is state-of-the-art two storeyed auditorium constructed on 14,842.43 sq mts land situated at Reshimbag ground towards Great Nag road. The project was started in 2010. The project was planned at Rs 33.60 crore but the cost escalated upto Rs 77 crore.

The auditorium will have 1,400 seats at the lower level on first floor, 1,500 on the ground and 600 seats in balcony. The stage is 25 meter wide covering 300 square meter area. The solar power system will generate 200 KW electricity per hour. As one enters the auditorium, one sees beautiful murals along the staircase.
