Be ready to face challenges under GST implementation: CA Jotwani

NAGPUR Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has organised a workshop on GST for all the members of JCI Women’sWorld. As a part of social awareness campaign, Nagpur Branch is organising multiple programmes to spread the awareness about the various developments taking place under GST.

Chief guest CA. Sandeep Jotwani, Chairman of ICAI, Nagpur Branch said, there are multiple challenges that may be faced during the implementation phase of GST for which all should be ready. He said, inspite of all the challenges, the Goods & Services Tax (GST) will be benefiting the various sectors of Central India due to its geographical location and which inturn will benefit the common man and the growth of the region.

“Proper planning and professional advise is of utmost important to avoid any violations by the trade and industry. GST has proven results in multiple countries across the globe and with time it will have a positive impact in India as well,” he claimed. He said, Nagpur Branch of ICAI is taking all efforts to take GST to every interested person.

“Though GST is a very big opportunity for the profession but CAs are looking at it as a responsibility as well for which various social initiatives are being taken,” Jotwani disclosed. He said, during the transition phase, there may be multiple challenges but with time, this challenges will give due returns in due course of time. He appealed to take the benefit of GST Seva Kendra at ICAI Bhawan, Dhantoli, which is also providing free consultancy to general public for the matters on GST.

“Also, many people are not passing the benefit of GST to the consumers and because of that many complaints are being received. Under anti-profiteering, the benefit is compulsorily required to pass on to the consumers failing which heavy penalty will be imposed on such person who do not follow the same,” he cautioned. Past Zone President JC Manish Kurjekar was the keynote speaker whereas CA Sanjay Agrawal and CA Saket Bagadia were the eminent speakers of the subject in the seminar.

Earlier President of JCIWomen World JC Faiza Khwaja in her welcome address thanked Nagpur Branch of ICAI for joining hands with the JCI Women’s World and for organising the seminar to create awareness among members and their families. “It is important that when a new legislature is introduced, every common man who is ultimately affected should be aware of it. Such kind of awareness programmes will not only benefit to understand the law but will also help the members to be vigilant so that they should not pay anything over and above the required amount,” she said.

JC Devinder Kaur Sohal invoked the JCI creed and Secretary, JC Santosh Arora proposed the vote of thanks. JC CA Sweety Jain was the Project Director of the programme.
