Drunk cop mercilessly beats Law student Dayashankar Tiwari demands stern action against guilty cops

■ Ganeshpeth police book Tiwari under Secs 353, 294 of IPC

CHARGING police personnel with using unwarranted and excessive force against an innocent law student, former Standing Committee Chairman Dayashankar Tiwari on Monday demanded stern action against staff of Ganeshpeth Police and Traffic Police forth rashing a youth Vaibhav Dixit on Sundaynight at 11.30 pm near Mokshadham.

Tiwari has demanded registration of offence against traffic constable,Kishor Ramesh Jadhav, who, according to him, was in an inebriated condition and caused head injury to Vaibhav by mercilessly attacking him with a stick. Tiwari, accompanied by angry residents insisted that a case of attempt to murder should be registered against drunk constable who not only abused his power, but caused grievous injury to a law student, who happens to be a son of a prominent lawyer as well.

He charged the cops with shielding an erring constable and cooking up a false story and dubbed entire action as highly irresponsible. Tiwari while talking to mediapersons onMonday said that the Traffic Police was picketing near Mokshadham on Sunday night. Vaibhav Dixit and Aditya Thakur were going from that road to wards Medical College. Near Eros Motors, he took U turn to go to ATMtowithdrawmoney.Without any provocation and notice, the traffic police hit at the head of Vaibhav, and again hit on his shoulder. Vaibhav is son of Adv.

Deepak Dixit of Bajeria. Constable Kishor Ramesh Jadhav also threatened him not to inform his parents regarding bleeding from his head otherwise they will also put him behind the bars. Nervous Vaibhav called his elder brother and told him about the incident. Then they went to Ganeshpeth Police Station to register complaint against the constable and claimed that the Duty Officer Khandarkar did not send him for medical checkup till 1 am.

Irate over this inaction, Dayashankar Tiwari had a heated argument with the police officer and he demanded immediate penal action against erring constables and also to send Vaibhav for medical checkup. A woman constable Urmila videographed the arguments of Dayashankar Tiwari with the police and the post went viral on social media by Monday evening.

After heated argument with Tiwari, the Police called Traffic Police Constable Kishor Ramesh Jadhav andhis colleagues.Tiwari alleged that they were drunk. He demandedtheirmedicaltest.

The police sent blood sample of Jadhav for medical examination and sent Vaibhav Dixit to Mayo Hospital for medical examination. Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Ruling Party leader Sandip Joshi, and others also rushed to spot and demanded action against guilty police personnel. Ganeshpeth police have denied the allegation of hitting Vaibhav and claimed that he fell down from the vehicle while trying to take a u-turn near Mokshadham square to avoid special drive undertaken by police to detect drunken drive cases.

The head injuries and bruises on hand and shoulders were caused after they fell down, cops claimed. But, the serious complaint lodged by Vaibhav againstthe cops isbeing probed, officers stated. Meanwhile, cops have booked Tiwari under section353and294 of the IPC.
