Mayor, Collector assure safety of children in schools

A delegation of private institute approached ‘Bhopal Ki Choupal’ organised at Mayor’s residence on Monday and expressed deep concerned over safety and security of children in schools at ‘Mayor Choupal’ after brutal murder of class 2 student Praduman Thakur at Ryan International School, Gurugram, Haryana, who was stabbed to death by school bus conductor. Parents of various schools had approached at Choupal over this issue and they demanded that Mayor at his level should take initiatives for proper security of the students in the schools.


The Supreme Court had already issued notices to the Centre, the Haryana government and the Central Board of Secondary Education after the boy’s father sought a CBI investigation into the murder and safety guidelines for schools. Mayor Alok Sharma assured parents that very soon he would have series of meetings with school principals and parents to chalk out blue print of security of the students. Regular meeting of committees constituted to look after security, will be ensured. Besides, Mayor Alok Sharma talked to District Collector Sudam Khade on mobile and informed him about the concern of parents.

Collector gave them time of 1 pm for the meeting and the delegation meet Collector who also assured them the same. Mayor also assured the parents that all steps would be taken to ensure full security and safety of the students in the schools in the State capital. It is natural tension of the parents and they have expressed their grievances at Choupal. We have talked to collector.

Soon, we will have meetings to chalk out to provide security to students in better way. As many as 93 complaints were received in the Choupal. On two complaints regarding encroachment at Koh-e-Fiza area and near Bhopal Memorial Hospital, Mayor Alok Sharma instructed to the civic body officials concerned for taking immediate action regarding the complaints. On this occasion, incharge BMC Commissioner V K Chaturvedi, Additional Commissioner Malikka Nigam Nagar, MP Singh, Pradeep Jain, Deputy Commissioner Sudha Bhargava, PRO (BMC) Harish Gupta and other corporators were also present.
