IIIT Naya Raipur launches Raipur Chapter of PyData

Dr SPM International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Naya Raipur launched Raipur Chapter of PyData, an education programme of NumFOCUS and a 501(c)3 non-profit organisation in United States.

IIIT Naya Raipur Vice-Chancellor and Director Dr Pradeep Kumar Sinha launched the Chapter which has been initiated by Raj SrujanJalem, Nitesh Agarwal, KritiPawar, PoojaJaiswal, PoojaSonkar of Dr SPM IIIT Naya Raipur, S K Aravind of NIT Raipur and Y Aakash of ITM Raipur under the guidance of Professor Om Prakash Vyas, Dean Academics, Dr SPM IIIT Naya Raipur.

The first talk was delivered by Industry Expert Jalem Raj Rohit, Senior Data Scientist at Episource LLC also the Technical Author of “Julia CookBook” – A Machine Learning guide for Julia Programming Language. The event consisted of talks on “Getting into Data Science” along with hands on session on emerging topics like Handling Machine Learning Algorithms. The talks focused on industry requirements in Data Science area and how students should prepare themselves to meet the requirements of Data Science industry.

PyData began as a workshop held in March of 2012 at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA. Many prominent individuals in the community were on-hand to deliver tutorials and discuss the current state of the Python Scientific Stack. Widespread community interest in 2014 led to the first European PyData events taking place in London and Berlin, as well as worldwide PyData meetups. 2014 US conferences included PyData NYC, and PyData SV, hosted by Facebook. PyData saw further growth in 2015 with conferences in 7 locations; Dallas, London, Berlin, Seattle, and NYC, and a PyData track in Florence as part of PyCon Italy.

PyData is an educational programme of NumFOCUS, a 501(c)3 non-profit organisation in the United States. PyData provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other.

The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualization. PyData communities approach data science using many languages, including (but not limited to) Python, Julia, and R.
