An intercollegiate debate competition was organised under the joint aegis of Kanya Kubj Samajik Chetna Manch and Hindi Department of Sri Shankarcharya Mahavidyalaya, Junwani Bhilai to observe the 119th Birth Anniversary of Dr Baldeo Prasad Mishra. Dr S K Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of PRSU, Raipur, I P Mishra, President Gangajali Sikshan University, Bhilai, Brijmohan Kumar Bajpai former ED (Works) BSP, Ashish Mishra, President Kanya Kubj Samajik Chetna Manch, Dr J Durga Prasad Rao, Additional Director, Dr Raksha Singh, Principal, SN Singh, HoD Hindi Department SSV Hudco, Sonali Chakraborty, Director Swyamsiddha Cultural group Bhilai graced the occasion with their presence.

The Chief guest at the inaugural session was Dr S K Pandey and other dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp and garlanded the portrait of Goddess Saraswati to inaugurate the competition. This entailed the welcome of the guests. In his address Chief guest, Dr S K Pandey said that Ramayana is a pious epic of Hindus that comprises of literature and science. We must learn from it how work has to be accomplished. There is a need to take Ram Charti Manas among the youths, it is our heritage and we must feel proud of it. Dr Baldeo is a person to be remembers for his work we must try to bring forward a personality like him.

Other dignataries also expressed their views on the occasion. This entailed the debate competition were 17 students from various colleges participated. Subham of St. Thomas College bagged the first place, Krishna of SSM stood second and Sagar Sahu stood third. The winners were awarded shield and citation at the hands of guests, while Kamehswari, Mehul Sharma, Ekta Jaiswal, Varsha Pandey and Naveen Jaiswal were given consolation prizes. SN Singh, HoD Hindi Department of SSV, Hudco and Sonali Chakraborty were the judges of the competition. Dr Sharddha Mishra conducted the proceedings of the programme while Ashish Mishra proposed a vote of thanks. The programme ended with national anthem.
