HC notices to CS, Umaria Collector over Illegal resort in Bandhavgarh

In the matter related to illegal construction of resort within the forest area of Bhandhavgarh National Park, the division bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court comprising Justice S K Seth and Justice H P Singh has issued notices to the Chief Secretary, State Government of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, Collector, Umariya, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Bhopal, Director, Bandhavgarh National Park, District Umariya and Manju Sinha, Gram Gadhpuri Koluaawaha, Police Station Manpur, District Umariya and asked them to file their reply before the court.

The division bench has heard the letter petition send by the villagers of Garhpuri, District Umariya. This Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been registered on August 22, 2017, a letter written by the villagers of Garhpuri complaining about the illegal construction of resort within the forest area of Bhandhavgarh National Park by respondent Manju Sinha, Gram Gadhpuri Koluaawaha, Police Station Manpur, District Umariya.

According to them (villagers), the Khasra No.328 is a government land and has been earmarked for rehabilitation of the villagers of Garhpuri because their village is coming within the core area of Bhandhavgarh National Park. Office is, therefore, directed to issue notices of the petition to the respondents, free of cost, to show cause why the petition be not allowed at the motion stage, the division bench said. Deputy Advocate General Sanjay Dwivedi appeared on behalf of the respondents State.
